Constitution

The Constitution is HSAA’s highest expression of the collective will of the membership of the Union. It stands as the ultimate authority upon which every decision is based. As such, it can only be amended by a 2/3 vote of the delegates at Convention of a special meeting.

Article 13 - Retired Members

  1. Any member 55 years of age or older and who ceases employment in a bargaining unit covered by an HSAA collective agreement, is a retired member.
  2. Retired members may, at their own expense, attend the convention of the Union.
  3. Retired members may, at their own expense, attend a Labour Relations Conference of the Union.
  4. Retired members are not eligible to:
    1. vote; or
    2. hold office
  5. Retired members may pay an annual membership fee as determined by the Board.
  6. Subject to the above, the Board may, at its discretion, designate the rights, duties and obligations of retired members.
