EMS LETTER OF UNDERSTANDING #11

BETWEEN

ALBERTA HEALTH SERVICES
(hereinafter referred to as the Employer)

- and -

HEALTH SCIENCES ASSOCIATION OF ALBERTA
(hereinafter referred to as the Union)

RE: RETURN OF RADIO EQUIPMENT/MEDICATIONS FOR CORE/FLEX EMPLOYEES

  1. Effective August 23, 2017 Employees working a core/flex scheduling provision who have used all of their core/flex time on the last day of their tour and

    1. are required at the completion of their tour to travel to the station or base for the purpose of returning radio equipment or medications; or
    2. be at home so that the radio equipment or medications can be picked up for use by the oncoming crew or other within Alberta Health Services.

    will be provided with the equivalent of one (1) hour compensation at two times (2x) their Basic Rate of Pay for the inconvenience of returning to the station or base or being at home to facilitate the pickup of radio equipment or medications (" Inconvenience Pay").

  2. For further clarification the Inconvenience Pay in 1. above does not apply to any of the following:
    1. Employees who have not used all of their flex time in the twenty-four hour period immediately prior to the end of their tour;
    2. Employees who are provided with accommodations at the base or station; or
    3. Employees who are not working a core/flex scheduling provision.

The Letter of Understanding will expire March 31, 2024, or upon the date the ratification of the next Collective Agreement, whichever is later.
