Article 11: Probationary Period

  1. A newly hired Employee shall serve a probationary period of six (6) months worked, immediately following the date on which the current period of continuous employment commenced.
  2. If, in the opinion of the Employer, the Employee is found to be unsatisfactory, the Employer will identify, in writing, any deficiencies and allow the Employee opportunity to correct them during the probationary period.
  3. If, in the opinion of the Employer, the Employee is found to be unsatisfactory, the Employee’s probationary period may be extended up to a maximum of three (3) months and the Employer will advise the Union.
  4. If, in the opinion of the Employer, the Employee is found to be unsatisfactory they may be terminated without notice and without recourse to the grievance procedure.
