Article 5: No Discrimination, Workplace Violence or Harassment
- There shall be no discrimination, harassment, restriction or coercion exercised or practised by either party in respect of any Employee by reason of race, colour, creed, national origin, political or religious affiliation, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, marital status, age, physical disability, mental disability, family status, place of origin, ancestry or source of income, nor by reason of membership or non-membership or lawful activity in the Union, nor in respect of an Employee’s or Employer’s exercising any right conferred under the Collective Agreement or any law of Canada or Alberta.
- Article 5.01 shall not apply with respect to a refusal, limitation, specification or preference based on a bona fide occupational requirement.
- The Employer, the Union and Employees recognize a joint responsibility to provide respectful, secure, and supportive work environments for all individuals. The Employer will maintain policies in support of these principles. If workplace violence or harassment has occurred, the Employer, the Union and Employees shall take appropriate action to ensure it ceases.
