Article 23: No Strike or Lockout

  1. If an Employee shall engage in any illegal strike, slowdown or stoppage of work during the life of this Agreement, the Union shall instruct their to return to their work and perform their duties faithfully and resort to the Grievance Procedure established herein for the settlement of any complaint or grievance.  If the Employee does not return immediately to work and perform their usual duties, they shall then be considered to have terminated their employment with the Employer.
  2. The Union agrees that during the life of this Agreement, they will not be involved in nor will they condone or authorize any slowdown, stoppage of work, picketing of the Employer’s premises, refusal to perform work, or strike, and no Employee shall be involved in such action.
  3. The Employer agrees that during the life of this Agreement, and/or while renewal is being negotiated, it will not sanction or authorize any lockout.
  4. In the event that it is necessary for an Employee, in the performance of their duties, to cross a picket line, the Employer will so notify the Union.
