Article 7: Hours of Work
- It is understood and agreed that hours of work must provide for continuous operations, and Employees may be required to work various shifts throughout the twenty-four (24) hour period of the day and the seven (7) day period of the week. The work week is accepted and recognized as commencing on Monday at 00:00.
- Normal hours of work shall be eight (8) hours per day, and forty (40) hours per week, for full-time Employees and less than forty (40) hours per week for part-time Employees. This provision also covers casual Employees assuming part-time or full-time equivalent positions.
- The Employer and Employees recognize coffee breaks and lunch breaks shall be taken when practical and are included in the eight (8) hour day.
- Modified hours of work may be implemented where mutually agreed between the Employer and the Union. When a modified hours of work agreement is implemented, the document will be attached to the Collective Agreement.
- Two Employees or Employer may request a “job-share” arrangement. When a request for a “job-share” has been mutually agreed upon between the Employees and the Employer, the terms and conditions shall be confirmed in a written agreement signed by the Employer and the Union. When a “job share” agreement is implemented, the document will be attached to the Collective Agreement. When any one (1) Employee of a job share resigns from the job share agreement, the agreement in it’s entirety is considered voided.
- Special Conditions for Camp
- Attendance at the Camp shall be by mutual agreement between the Employer and the Employee.
- An Employee shall be paid their basic rate of pay for twelve (12) hours for each day in attendance at the Camp.
- Employee Shift Trading
Employees may exchange shifts and/or days off with the approval of the Employer provided no increase in cost is incurred by the Employer. Shift and/or day off exchanges must be requested at a minimum of one (1) week in advance.
