Article 23: Sick Leave
-
- Employee sick leave entitlements will be as described in the group benefit plan referenced in Article 25.
- If an Employee requires time off for the purpose of attending a dental, physiotherapy, optical, chiropractor or medial appointment, they should try as best as possible to do so on their own time. However, if this is not possible, and provided they have been given prior authorization by the Employer, they should not suffer any loss of income provided such absence does not exceed two (2) hours during one work day. If the absence is longer than two (2) hours, the whole period of absence shall be without pay. However, the Employee may at their option, use banked vacation time or overtime to cover the loss of regular pay. Employees may be required to submit satisfactory proof of appointments.
- When the Employer requests satisfactory proof for said appointments, the Employer will reimburse the Employee any fee charged for such proof up to a maximum of twenty-five dollars ($25.00), upon presentation of a paid receipt by the Employee.
