Article 15: Named Holidays
- The ECAA has established and recognizes the following named holidays:
- New Year's Day,
- Alberta Family Day,
- Good Friday,
- Easter Sunday,
- Victoria Day,
- Canada Day,
- Civic Holiday,
- Labour Day,
- Thanksgiving Day,
- Remembrance Day,
- Christmas Day,
- Boxing Day
any other day designated, by regulation, as a general holiday by the Lieutenant Governor in Council, and
any other day designated as a named holiday under an agreement between ECAA Employees, or otherwise designated as a named holiday by ECAA.
- An Employee who works on a named holiday shall be entitled to the Holiday rate which shall be calculated as follows:
for all hours worked on the holiday to which the Salary Appendix rate would normally apply, the Holiday rate shall be two times (2X) the Salary Appendix rate; and
for all hours worked to which the On-Call rate would normally apply, the Holiday rate shall be two times (2X) the On-Call rate.
An Employee who does not work on a Named Holiday but does work their regularly scheduled shift before and after the holiday shall be entitled to twelve (12) hours at the Basic Rate of Pay which, at the Employer’s discretion, will be paid, banked to be used as time in lieu or added to vacation entitlement.
