Article 44: In-Service Programs
- The Parties to this Collective Agreement recognize the value of continuing in-service education for Employees and that the responsibility for such education lies not only with the Employer but also with the Employee. For the purpose of this article the term “In-Service” includes: orientation, acquisition and maintenance of essential skills, and other programs which may be offered by the Employer.
- The Employer reserves the right to identify certain specific in-service sessions as compulsory for Employees and those required to attend such sessions shall be paid at their applicable rate of pay. These sessions will be at no charge to the Employees. If Employees are unable to take advantage of these sessions when provided locally, the Employee will be required to take the session elsewhere at no cost to the Employer.
- Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) re-certification shall be made available at no charge to those Employees who must maintain current CPR certification as a condition of employment. Employees who receive approval from the Employer to attend such sessions shall be paid at the applicable rate of pay.
