Article 18: Temporary Assignments
- When an Employee is directed to perform the duties of a classification covered by this Collective Agreement to which is assigned a higher salary scale, they shall be paid, in addition to their hourly rate as set out in the Salaries Appendix, the difference between the beginning rate in the salary scale for their classification and the beginning rate in the salary scale of the classification to which they are temporarily assigned. The resultant basic rate of pay shall not exceed the maximum rate of the salary scale of the classification to which they are temporarily assigned. This provision shall not apply where the period of temporary assignment is less than one (1) full shift.
- Temporary Out-of-Scope Assignment
When an Employee is assigned to replace another person in an out-of-scope position at a more senior level for one (1) full shift or longer, the Employee shall be paid an additional two dollars ($2.00) an hour. An Employee so assigned shall continue to be covered by the terms and conditions of this Collective Agreement. - During periods of temporary assignment to a classification to which is assigned a higher salary scale, an Employee so assigned shall receive any overtime or call-back premiums based on the higher basic rate of pay.
