In light of the recent wildfires in Swan Hills, we wanted to reach out to offer support from your union.
We know that this is a time of stress and uncertainty. HSAA has activated the Disaster Relief Fund for all members who have been displaced from their primary residence for a minimum of 72 hours as a result of the wildfires in Swan Hills. Members have access to $500.00 for immediate relief to support unanticipated expenses related to evacuation, or other consequences of displacement. This fund will be available to members until August 3, 2025 (60 days from activation).
Additionally, if you find yourself in a position of urgent financial need, please know that access to HSAA's Emergency Assistance Fund is available should you meet the required criteria.
Every effort will be made to expedite the application process if you require assistance.
To help speed up the delivery of funds, please enroll in the Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) program. To be enrolled for EFT payments, please complete the enrollment form linked below.
As information about wildfires can change quickly, please refer to your employer info portals to stay informed with first-hand information relevant to keeping you and your families safe and protected.
If you have any questions about the impacts of the wildfires in Swan Hills on your employment, please reach out to the Member Resource Center at 1-844-280-HSAA (4722) or mrc@hsaa.ca.
In times of struggle, it is our actions that speak to who we are as a union. We applaud your efforts to serve your community where you are able, and we will be here to support you and your families throughout this crisis.
In solidarity,
Mike Parker, HSAA President
