Disaster Relief Fund

The Disaster Relief Fund is available for members affected by a natural disaster that results in loss of, or displacement from, their primary residence. The fund is activated following a 2/3 majority vote by the Board of Directors in the event of a natural disaster. Disasters may include but are not limited to wildfires, floods and tornados. When activated, members can access $500 for immediate relief to support unanticipated expenses related to evacuation or other consequences of displacement.

Please note: Members can only access the Disaster Relief Fund one time per activation period. If you have already received funds during a designated activation period, you are not eligible to be approved for additional Disaster Relief funds.

Disaster Relief Fund Available to Members in Swan Hills

The Board has activated the Disaster Relief Fund to provide $500 for members who have been displaced from their primary residence for a minimum of 72 hours during the May 2025 Alberta Wildfires in the region of Swan Hills. This fund will be available to members for 60 days from activation (August 3, 2025).

You will be contacted when your cheque is ready for pick up at the HSAA office you selected. Please do not arrive for pick up until you've been notified the cheque is ready for you.
