Covenant Health Members Vote to Ratify Collective Agreement

HSAA members who are covered under the Covenant Health Collective Agreement have voted to ratify the tentative agreement reached on December 5, 2025.  

Of eligible members who cast their ballot, 70.84% voted in favour of accepting the agreement.

The agreement will be in effect as of December 16, 2025, and covers the period of April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2028.  

The agreed upon wage increases are as follows: 

  • Effective April 1, 2024: 3% for all classifications/all steps
  • Effective April 1, 2025: 3% for all classifications/all steps
  • Effective April 1, 2026: 3% for all classifications/all steps
  • Effective April 1, 2027: 3% for all classifications/all steps

The market adjustments, effective December 16, are as follows:

  • Primary Care Paramedic: 8.44%
  • Advanced Care Paramedic, Advanced Care Paramedic Team Lead: 4%
  • Psychologist I and II: 6.1%
  • Nuclear Medicine Technologists I & ll: 1.6%
  • Diagnostic Sonographer l’s & ll’s: 4.9% 

Employees will receive retroactive wage lump sum payments on February 4, 2026. 

Former employees whose employment ended between April 1, 2024, and December 16, 2025, may request a retroactive payment. Submission instructions are available at the end of this article and must be sent to the employer by March 15, 2026. 

In addition, there were many other gains in your new collective agreement, including:   

  • Professional development days: 3 paid days per year for education/training for all members.
  • Long service pay: employees with 20 years of service will receive an additional 2% to their basic rate of pay.
  • Preceptor Pay: an additional $2/hr for members who are assigned as preceptors.
  • $3.7 million investment in the Rural Capacity Investment Fund (RCIF).
  • New workload appeal process to raise ongoing, systemic, or long-term workload concerns.
  • Professional fee reimbursement of up to $504/yr for all regular and temporary employees who have worked 810 hours.
  • Enhancements to the Benefit Plan, including:
    • Diabetic supplies: Deletion of 12-month insulin dependency limitation for flash glucose meters and deletion of requirement for a written order for diabetic equipment
      • Massage therapy: $75 per visit to max of $1000/yr (previously $50).

Retroactive Pay for Former Employees

Former Employees must contact the employer to receive any retroactive payment for increases. The employer will not contact them. 

Former Employees whose employment terminated between April 1, 2024 to December 16, 2025, may submit a written request for the retroactive payment of any increases they would have received but for the termination of employment.  

Requests must be received by March 15, 2026; 90 days from ratification. 

To submit a request, email HRBusinessSupport@covenanthealth.ca. All written requests for retroactive increases should include the following information: 

  • HSAA Retro (Article 1.03) as the email subject line
  • Employee Legal First and Last Name;
  • Employee Number;
  • Termination Date;
  • Phone number (in case there is need for follow up call)
  • Banking information (if it has changed since employment terminated; otherwise, payment will be direct deposited to the bank account on file with Covenant Health)
