Women Empowerment Award

This award recognizes an HSAA woman with outstanding achievements in advancing HSAA's objectives and activities through advocacy.

Nominate a member who has made a substantial contribution to HSAA and meets the following criteria. The eligible nominee will ideally:

  • Be an active or retired member of HSAA in good standing.
  • Have demonstrated and applied union values in their workplace and the community.
  • Have generated support or raised new awareness among policy makers, the media and the general public regarding the value of women’s issues such as:
    • Contribute to a cause specific to current union issues or needs of women
    • Advocate for women’s issues and needs among HSAA members and the public
  • Have demonstrated exemplary leadership advocating for women’s issues, which has resulted in increased union awareness and engagement within the membership.
  • Have demonstrated exemplary leadership advocating for women's issues;
    1. Increased Union awareness
    2. Increased engagement within the membership
  • Have demonstrated success in helping members gain a better understanding of HSAA’s women’s issues, accessing resources, workshops, events and other union benefits.
  • Not be a previous recipient of the award.

Note: HSAA appreciates and encourages all forms of allyship surrounding women's issues; however, this aware will be awarded to a woman or who identifies as female who is an active/retired member of HSAA.

Nominations will be reviewed and recipients will be selected based on the above criteria.

Please submit your nomination using the online form below by March 31. This award will be presented at Convention annually.
