2025 Chairs Conference

Event Information

The final countdown to the Chairs Conference is on! This is a great opportunity to connect with your fellow Chairs and come together for a day and a half of learning to provide you with tools and help you build the skills necessary to engage and advocate on behalf of the membership.  

To help you get ready, we wanted to provide some important information.  

Dates: April 1 & 2,2025 

• April 1: 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Registration 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.)
• April 2: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• Location: Red Deer Resort and Casino (3310 - 50th Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta, T4N 3X9)
• Meals: Lunch will be provided on April 2. All other meals members are responsible for and HSAA will pay per diem rates for meals as per national Joint Council directive

Networking Mixer

• Doors Open: 6:30 p.m.
• Show: 7:00 p.m.
• Bar Closes: 10:00pm
• Location: Heritage Ranch (6300 Cronquist Dr, Red Deer, AB T4N 7E8). Click here for map 

Parking: The parking lot is just a short 2-minute walk from the venue. Some areas may be muddy so please ensure you wear proper footwear. Signage will be available to guide you. If you require any parking accommodation, please feel free to email us at events@hsaa.ca. There is overflow parking available, next door the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame. 

Venue Information: Please be aware that there are horses on the property, with the corral located next to the venue. These horses can be pet over the fence, but please be mindful of any allergies. 

Additionally, a fire pit will be lit (weather permitting) for those who wish to enjoy the outdoors. We encourage you to dress accordingly if you plan to take advantage of the outdoor area. 

 Refreshments: Light refreshments and non-alcoholic drinks will be provided throughout the event. For those interested in an alcoholic beverage, a cash bar will be available

Expenses

The following outlines circumstances in which claims for Wage Replacement (policy 3.08.11) for TOFUB on days prior to and/or days after an event, will be accepted. Please note that any claims for Wage Replacement for TOFUB falling outside this guidance will not be accepted 

•  If you are scheduled to work the day before the event and your shift ends after 4:00 PM and you need to travel more than 375 kms, you will be eligible to claim for TOFUB.
• If you are scheduled to work the day before the event and if your shift ends after 9:00 PM and you need to travel more than 100 kms, you will be eligible for TOFUB.
• If you are scheduled to work a 10+ hour shift, the day before the event and if your shift ends after 4:00 PM and you need to travel more than 100 kms, you will be eligible for TOFUB.
• If you are scheduled to work on the day after the event, before 5:00 PM and you need to travel 375 kms or more, you will be eligible for TOFUB. 

 If a member is scheduled to attend an event and fails to attend without a reasonable cause, HSAA will invoice the member for the amount charged by the employer, plus administrative fees.
