Strike Resources Now Available

Strikes are not easy. They require preparation, unity and resolve. Done right, they are one of the most powerful tools we have at our disposal to demand fairness and change.

We have prepared a few resources to help you understand what will happen if there is a strike or lockout.

We have a two new easy to read documents that answer the most common questions and can be a quick source of information and shared easily.

Expanded FAQ: Bargaining, Strikes & ESAs

Got questions? You’re not alone. Following our recent town halls, we’ve compiled answers to the most common questions from members. This in-depth FAQ covers:

  • Formal mediation and a timeline for negotiations
  • How strike decisions are made and how long job action might last
  • Pay and benefits in the event of job action
  • How scheduling and assignments work under the ESA
  • How members can show solidarity with each other

We recommend members read the Strike Manual before visiting this FAQ.

Strike Captain Training – Registration Now Open

Being Strike Ready means being organized. Are you interested in leading the line?

We're now offering in-person Strike Captain Training for Local Unit Executive members on:

  • Saturday, July 5 in Calgary
  • Sunday, July 6 in Edmonton

Strike Captains help organize pickets, support coworkers, and keep communication strong on the front lines. For many members, this will be your first time in a leadership role—and that’s okay! We’ll give you the tools, support, and confidence to lead.

Spots are limited for this first round, and not all registrants will be invited to attend. But more sessions are coming soon!

To register, log in to hsaa.ca, click My Profile, then My Events, scroll to Strike Captain Training, and click Register to complete the process.

If you have any questions or require additional information, please reach out to us at workshops@hsaa.ca.
