Have a Short-Staffing Story?

Earlier this month, our members under the Alberta Health Services bargaining unit voted no to the tentative agreement, making it clear that the health professionals who keep Alberta’s health system running are looking for a better deal.

Now, it's time to focus, stay united, and prepare for next steps.  We need to send a message that Alberta’s health-care professionals are united, determined, and ready to act for a collective agreement that will recognize our value.

  • We face a dangerous shortage of health care professionals in Alberta.
  • Shortages mean longer wait times, packed ERs, and delayed care.
  • We're facing unstainable workloads and burnout, which are driving more professionals out of healthcare.
  • We're asking for better wages and working conditions that reflect our value and help recruit more professionals.

Tell us your short-staffing story!

This is your story to tell

The most powerful voice is yours. Share your own short-staffing stories on your social media. Use the hashtag #SupportHSAA and follow these tips:

  1. Be authentic, not perfect. You don’t need to be the perfect writer or a videographer or a professional photographer.
  2. Speak from your experience. Real experiences are relatable and powerful.
  3. Include photos and videos. Whatever feels right to you.
  4. Wear your work gear in photos/videos if you’re comfortable.

You could also have a loved one share a story from their experience about how your working conditions affect them and your family.

If you see a post from a fellow member, share it. Like it. Comment on it.

Encourage your friends and family to do the same.

NEVER POST PHOTOS/VIDEOS FROM YOUR WORKPLACE OR CREATE CONTENT DURING WORK HOURS. This violates your collective agreement.
