Nominations now open for President & Vice-President

This is the official first and final call for nominations for the following HSAA Executive Officers positions:

  • President
  • Vice-President

About these roles

HSAA is a member-led organization, which means our direction, priorities, and decisions are driven by you.

The President and Vice-President are the senior-most elected leaders of your Union, and play a critical role in shaping its strategic direction. These are full-time salaried positions that require significant time, commitment, availability and travel.

Both roles work closely with each other, as well the Executive Director and their fellow Board of Directors to provide strategic oversight of the organization. They are supported by HSAA staff, who provide information, expertise, and advice as required.

Key duties for the President include public representation, strategic leadership, advocacy, and governance.

Key duties for the Vice-President include financial stewardship and records oversight, strategic leadership, and public representation.

Who is eligible to be nominated?

  • All active members in good standing are eligible for nomination.
  • Each nominee must be supporte by ten nominators, all of which must be active members in good standing.
  • Members may be nominated for only one position (President or Vice-President)

Election Timeline

  • Nomination Period: Feb. 18, 12:01 a.m. to Feb. 25, 2026, 11:59 p.m.
  • Campaigning Period: Feb. 26 to Mar. 17, 2026, 12:00 p.m.
  • Voting Period: Mar. 10 to Mar. 17, 2026, 12:00 p.m.
  • Appeal Period: Mar. 18 to Mar. 24, 2026

How to apply

During the nomination period:

Deadline for nominations: Wednesday, February 25, 2026, 11:59 p.m.

Emails sent before the opening or after the closing of the nomination period will not be considered valid. 

Election Process and Term of Office

  • The election is conducted in accordance with Policy 2.01 Rules and Procedures for Executive Officers and Board Members Elections.
  • Further details, including when candidates may begin campaigning, are available under the “Election Campaigning Guidelines” section on HSAA Elections webpage.
  • The elected President and Vice-President will be sworn in at Convention 2026.
  • They will take office at the conclusion of Convention 2026 for a three-year term, ending at the conclusion of Convention in 2029.
  • The President and Vice-President may seek re-election at the end of their term. There is no limit on the number of terms they may serve.
