As we approach a critical juncture in our collective bargaining with AHS, we are issuing new ‘Strike Ready’ buttons for members working under the AHS Collective Agreement.
The continued delays in negotiations, along with the government and AHS's unwillingness to negotiate fair wages, have made it increasingly likely that we may need to take job action. Wearing these buttons will allow us to demonstrate solidarity, raise awareness about the urgency of fair wage negotiations, and show our collective strength as HSAA members. It’s a visible reminder that we are prepared to take action, if necessary, to protect our rights and secure fair compensation.
Below, you will find a Fact Sheet with key details about these buttons.

Who has the right to wear these buttons to work?
The majority of members under the AHS collective agreement have the right to wear these buttons, with a few exceptions listed below.
Who is not permitted to wear these buttons?
- EMS members: Due to a size limitation in their uniform policies, EMS members are not permitted to wear these buttons. Production of special-made pins that do conform with EMS uniform policy is currently in progress. These will be ready for distribution soon.
- Other members with uniform policy restrictions: For example, members working in MRI who are not permitted to wear metal items while on duty.
- Members not covered under the AHS Collective Agreement: Those not working under the AHS Collective Agreement should not wear these buttons.
What to do if your employer asks you to remove your button?
If you are asked by your employer to remove the button, and it is not due to a uniform policy restriction, you should comply with the request and contact your Labour Relations Officer (LRO) immediately. Your union will support you in ensuring that your rights are protected.
How to get your button:
To obtain your button, please reach out to your Local Unit Executive (LUE) to find out how to receive it.
