On behalf of your entire board, we are sending you our best wishes for this holiday season. We hope, regardless of when you get the time, you spend it with those you hold dear.
We also hope you reflect on the impact your professionalism and commitment to care for others is having on Albertans. Thousands upon thousands have you to thank for being able to enjoy this holiday season with their family and friends. Our communities are buzzing with
activity this year because of the incredible job you have done keeping people healthy, responding when they are sick and injured, and helping them recover.
As health-care professionals, we all know and understand the most important priority is looking out for and caring for each other.
You have also had an incredible impact on our union. When we were faced with double-digit wage cuts you got the word out and new Collective Agreements were negotiated that included wage and benefit increases.
We get stronger through living our union values… and friends, the need for a strong, trusted union is as critical now as it has ever been. Our strength lies in all of you, our Stewards, our Local Unit Executives and everyone who takes that extra moment to help a co-worker access the benefits of their collective agreement. That is why we dedicate time to providing you with the tools you need in your workplace to make all members feel heard and not just appreciated but taken care of.
We have made health care the number one issue for Albertans. We are engaging with people every chance we get because we know politicians don’t make change. They make the changes voters force them to make.
As the experts in the delivery of health care in Alberta, we must keep up the pressure in the coming year. We all need people we can rely on. We know, our members know, and Albertans know… we can rely on you.
Know that your union is always here for you and together we will continue to lead the drive for better working conditions for you and a public health system that provides the care Albertans need when they need it.
Take some time to take care of yourself. Reach out to loved ones and those you turn to for support. And remember, the joy and love being spread this Christmas is happening because of you.
Have a fun and safe Christmas,
Mike and Leanne
