Your bargaining committee met with the Employer in Okotoks on April 29, 2026, for the second bargaining session of this round.
What was discussed
Bargaining continues to progress in a constructive and positive manner. The Employer tabled a broad package of non-monetary proposals focused primarily on increasing operational flexibility and updating language within the collective agreement.
Your Union took several important steps to protect members’ rights and bargaining unit work. Additional formal estoppel notices were issued to address ongoing concerns, including:
- The reestablishment of EMAC
- The vacant Superintendent positions remaining unfilled
- The long-term use of "temporary assignments" to perform Superintendent duties
Estoppel notices are formal declarations that specific provisions of the collective agreement must be adhered to and will be enforced following ratification.
What happens next
The next bargaining date is scheduled for May 25, 2026, in Okotoks. At that time, the committee expects the parties will respond to each other’s non-monetary proposals and negotiations on those items will ensue. The exchange of monetary proposals will occur once we have addressed the non-monetary proposals.
Additional bargaining dates are being coordinated, with further sessions anticipated in May and June, and later in the summer.
