Fall 2025 Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) Training

HSAA’s Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) Training Course is back this fall. This course occurs in in-person and follows a hands-on approach, giving members the skills and knowledge they need to participate meaningfully on Joint Health & Safety Committees in their workplaces.

If you are a current JHSC member, this course helps fulfill your legislated training requirements under Alberta's Occupational Health and Safety Act. It covers:

  • Legal duties and responsibilities of JHSC members
  • The role and responsibilities of Co-chairs
  • Common committee functions such as inspections, investigations, and meeting structure
  • Practical, scenario-based learning that reinforces key skills

By completing this course, you’ll also be eligible for more advanced training opportunities at future HSAA Health, Safety & Wellness Conferences.

Why These Steps Matter

Under Alberta law, JHSC members are entitled to training and are considered to be at work while attending. HSAA covers eligible expenses in accordance with our Member Expense Policy, but we require completed documentation in advance so we can process approvals and reimbursements properly.
