Carewest Bargaining Update #6

Since the January 2026 update, HSAA and Carewest have agreed to appoint Ms. Cory Galway as mediator for informal mediation, as per Section 64 of the Alberta Labour Relations Code.

Based on the parties’ availability, informal mediation dates have been scheduled for April 13 and 16.

Ms. Galway has more than 30 years of experience in negotiations, consulting, and mediation, and has served multiple terms on the Alberta Labour Relations Board. 

Essential Services Agreement negotiations

Negotiations related to the Essential Services Agreement (ESA) are underway. The Union has provided its initial negotiation proposal for the ESA Master Agreement, and the next ESA meetings are scheduled for March 19 and April 2.

What happens next

We will continue to keep members informed as this process moves forward and will provide further updates following the mediation meetings with the employer.
