Your HSAA Bargaining Committee met with CapitalCare on March 25. A second bargaining date had been scheduled for March 27, but CapitalCare cancelled that meeting due to scheduling issues.
What was discussed
During the March 25 bargaining session:
- The parties discussed 11 articles in detail, with each side providing rationale for its position
- Two articles were signed off:
- Article 16: Shift Differential and Weekend Premium
- Article 22: Named Holidays
HSAA provided three counter-proposals to CapitalCare for consideration
- Article 13 – On-Call Duty
- Article 23 – Sick Leave
- Article 44 – Part-time, Temporary and Casual Employees
- CapitalCare provided one counter-proposal for HSAA to review and respond to
- Article 15 – Recognition of Previous Experience
Where discussions stand
At this stage, 11 non-monetary articles and 28 monetary articles remain open for discussion.
HSAA continues to advance proposals based on members’ priorities. To date, the employer has shown limited willingness to move on key issues and maintains that, in its view, there are too many proposals on the table that need to be prioritized before any monetary items can be discussed.
What happens next
The parties have agreed to four additional bargaining dates: April 27 & 29, May 25 & 27.
Your bargaining committee remains focused on the mandate provided by members and on continuing to move discussions forward.
