Bill 55 Transition: All Deserve to be Treated Fairly

A message from HSAA

President Leanne Alfaro shares a message of support and reaffirms HSAA's commitment to stand with members affected by the Bill 55 transition.

"Public health inspectors, researchers, health promotion facilitators and support staff operate as part of a highly integrated team dedicated to keeping Albertans safe from infection and disease. Every member of that team plays an important role, and all deserve to be treated fairly.

As these workers transition to their new employer, it is essential that all are treated consistently and with respect. When some workers are treated differently than others, it creates division and instability within a workforce that Albertans depend on every day."

Leanne Alfaro, HSAA President

Today, HSAA President Leanne Alfaro joined labour leaders to call for a fair and equitable transition for workers affected by Alberta’s health system restructuring. Public health workers play a critical role in protecting the health and safety of Albertans and deserve the same respect, protections and negotiated rights afforded to other health-care workers.
