Your Bargaining Committee met with Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) on October 28 and 29. These were challenging negotiations, and despite our continued efforts, very little progress was made. We know this is frustrating for members and your committee shares that frustration.
At this stage, your committee and the employer remain far apart on most major issues, and we have reached an impasse on several key items.
Despite this, we were able to sign off on two articles:
- Article 42 - Workplace, Health, Safety and Wellness (with improvements)
- Article 45 - Modified Workday (renewed as-is)
Following these discussions, your committee carefully reviewed all available options. We are now preparing to present APL with a focused package of both monetary and non-monetary improvements that reflect your highest priorities. This is a time-limited offer designed to move bargaining forward and test whether the employer is prepared to reach a fair agreement.
If APL rejects this package, we will begin the process of applying for the assistance of a mediator. The next scheduled bargaining dates will be either the end of November or early December (exact dates to be confirmed) and will be pivotal in determining how we move forward.
Your Bargaining Committee remains committed to securing an agreement that recognizes your skill, dedication, and the essential role you play in Albertans’ health and well-being each and every day.
