Though a series of informal discussions over the last few weeks we have continued to press for a return to formal bargaining immediately. While October dates were initially discussed, AHS is now not available until November 12, 13 and 14. We are disappointed that they would not come to the table earlier, given that in a statement provided to the media on October 2, Finance Minister Nate Horner claimed that “Alberta Health Services and the HSAA remain at the bargaining table... We are committed to reaching a fair and fiscally responsible agreement that supports health-care workers and protects taxpayers.”
We will use the time leading up to these formal bargaining dates to sustain pressure on AHS and the government for a better deal and further increase public awareness. We’ll be calling on all members to support these activities. Watch our newsletter later this week for details.
Thank you for your continued patience, solidarity and support. We’ll keep you informed as updates become available.
In solidarity,
Mike Parker, HSAA President
Leanne Alfaro, HSAA Vice-President
