Hello, my name is Michelle McLean, and I'm honoured to be nominated for the Calgary District Board.
For the past 24.5 years, I've proudly worked as a Medical Transcriptionist with Alberta Precision Labs. Over the last two decades, I've been deeply involved with HSAA, serving in several leadership roles including Local Unit Chair, Co-Chair and Group Rep. I have also sat on several committees (including bargaining and transitional bargaining) and now, beginning my journey as a Steward.
Like many of you, I feel the weight of a healthcare system under strain. The cracks are visible-and they impact not only our patients, but every one of us working on the front lines. With over 20 years of experience, I remain committed to being part of the solution. I bring energy, honesty, and a strong commitment to meaningful change- both as an individual and as a collaborative team member.
I believe open, honest communication is the foundation of a strong Union. Every member deserves to be heard, valued, and supported. When we stand together, we become a powerful voice for change. I'm here to listen, to advocate, and to keep showing up-because that's how we move forward.
Advocacy has always been close to my heart. I'm a founding member of the Chestermere Women's Crisis Society, where I support women and families facing domestic violence, housing instability, and other critical challenges. That work has shown me the true strength of community and the importance of lifting each other up-especially in tough times.
I would be honoured to represent you on the HSAA Board of Directors. Together, we can continue building a stronger, more united future for all our members.
