Nominate a member for this award who has made a substantial contribution to HSAA and meets the following criteria. This award is for a member who is:
Involved:
- Actively participates in union engagement activities, such as Union/Local Unit meetings, campaigns, committees, rallies, advocacy, etc. to build power, support bargaining and defend worker rights.
Innovative:
- Tries new ways to encourage other young workers to participate in union activities.
- Introduces new ideas that strengthen solidarity and participation.
Supportive:
- Mentors colleagues and other young HSAA members.
- Engages workers and members.
Visible:
- Helps make Union communication and outreach more modern, accessible and easy to share.
- Spreads the word about Union issues and needs among HSAA members and the public through picket lines, rallies, events, socials, apps and more!
Focused on making positive changes:
- Speaks up and advocates for members' rights and social justice related to issues such as fair working conditions, safe staffing, respect for collective agreements, equity, inclusion, anti-discrimination and human rights.
Demonstrates strong Union leadership:
- Organizes, educates, advocates
- Takes initiative to address workplace or Union issues.
- Achieves meaningful impact at the workplace, local, district or provincial level.
Aligned with HSAA union values:
- Upholds HSAA's principles of solidarity, democracy, fairness and collective action.
- Acts with integrity, respect and professionalism.
- Demonstrates a long-term commitment to the strength and sustainability of the Union.
Additional qualifying criteria:
- Must be an HSAA member in good standing.
- Will be awarded to first-time recipients.
- This award may only be received once in an individual's lifetime.
Nominations will be reviewed and recipients will be selected based on above criteria. Please submit your nomination by March 31 using the online form below. This award will be presented annually.
