The HSAA Chair’s Conference is coming to Kananaskis on October 19-20, 2026, and we’d love to see you there.

This event brings together Chairs from across Alberta for two days of learning, collaboration, and fun. You’ll exchange ideas, strengthen your leadership skills, and connect with colleagues who understand the unique challenges and rewards of your role, all while enjoying a well-deserved opportunity to celebrate your contributions and the important work you do for the Union. 

Event details

When: October 19-20, 2026, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Hotel accommodation for the night of Sunday, October 18 will be available for members travelling more than 100 km, according to HSAA Policy 3.11.

How to attend

Space is limited and Chairs will be selected through a random draw:

Draw deadline: Draw is open now and closes on July 6 at 11:59 p.m.

Notification date: Successful and unsuccessful applicants will be notified by email on July 8.

Spots available: 100

Selection process: Seats will be allocated proportionately by district, with the 50% of spaces reserved for Chairs with fewer than three years of experience and 50% for Chairs with three or more years of experience.

Submitting your name does not guarantee a spot.

If a selected member is not able to attend, HSAA will offer the spot to a member on the waitlist. 

Join the Chairs’ Conference Planning Advisory Group

HSAA is seeking five Chairs, one from each district, to serve on the Conference Planning Advisory Group to assist with agenda development and event planning.

Commitment: Advisory Group members will meet for two full-day virtual meetings on August 10 and September 3.

Compensation: Members attending these meetings will be compensated at their basic rate of pay in accordance with Policy 3.11.3.

How to express interest: If interested, please indicate your interest when submitting your name for the draw. 

Selection process: Members will be selected by random draw from among those that express interest. No event planning experience is required.

Important information:

  • Expenses: Conference attendees’ expenses will be covered according to Policy 3.11.3.
  • Impact on Labour Relations Conference attendance: HSAA will also be hosting a Labour Relations Conference in Calgary on November 24-25, 2026. To provide opportunities to as many Chairs as possible, those who do not attend the Chairs’ Conference will be given preference for Chair-designated spots at the Labour Relations Conference.
