AB’s health-care professionals need support. Instead the government ignored them

With Alberta’s health-care system in crisis, we need to increase staffing for critical areas — like mental health and addictions, lab workers, diagnostic imaging, and therapists, technicians, and technologists.

Yet instead, the government ignored health-care professionals in the budget they released this week. This budget had nothing for recruitment and retention of lab professionals, respiratory therapists, social workers, pharmacists, addictions counsellors — every other kind of counsellor, therapist and technician Albertans rely on. Frankly, it puts Albertans’ lives at risk.

Please take a few moments right now to speak up in support of health-care professionals in Alberta.

Send an email. It won’t take long, and it’s important we make our voices heard loud and clear.

We’ve provided a sample below, or you can write your own letter. Once you’re done, just hit submit and it will automatically go straight to UCP Premier Danielle Smith, UCP Health Minister Jason Copping and NDP Health Critic David Shepherd.

Your voice matters. Sharing your thoughts will help put pressure on the UCP government to act.

Remember to:

  1. Introduce yourself.
  2. Include key points about why this issue is important to you. If you have a personal story about how the crisis in health care has impacted you, including it here may help.
  3. Tell the Premier you want to see much-needed investments in health-care staffing.

We know you’re busy, so we’ve also drafted a sample email for you that’s ready to send. Or, edit it to make it your own.
