CBS (Technical) Bargaining Update #5

Your Bargaining Committee met with Canadian Blood Services (CBS) on September 23 and 24, 2026, to continue negotiations toward a renewed collective agreement.

Where discussions stand

On September 23, the employer returned to the table with largely the same position it presented in December 2025. The only improvement offered was a small increase to the training premium. The employer continued to seek the same concessions and was not prepared to agree to HSAA’s outstanding proposals.

In response, your Bargaining Committee combined the remaining outstanding items into a package aimed at creating a path toward settlement. The employer agreed to review the package and respond but did not provide a formal response before bargaining ended on September 24.

While we were initially disappointed with the employer’s response, your Bargaining Committee remains optimistic that further discussions can help move the parties closer to a tentative agreement that can be brought to members for consideration.

What happens next

Additional bargaining dates have been confirmed for October 14 and December 1 and 2, 2026.
