Golf tournament helps relieve poverty around the world

I am an active volunteer with Generously Giving Back (GGB), a Canadian registered charity founded by everyday people with big hearts who have come together with one common purpose: To make a difference in the world, as there are no boundaries in kindness and giving.

Generously Giving Back has two annual fundraisers, a golf tournament in June and a gala dinner and silent auction in November. These, along with private donations, raise about $50,000 each year.

A total of 100 per cent of the net funds raised goes towards charity projects. In 2017, GGB completed 18 projects in seven countries (Canada, Vietnam, Philippines, Nepal, Zambia, Peru and El Salvador). GGB uses the funds to relieve poverty by providing food, clothing and other necessities to people in need and supports education by providing scholarships to low-income students.

I and GGB would like to thank the HSAA social-justice committee for contributing $400 to sponsor two holes (holes one and 10) at the third annual charity golf tournament at Goose Hummock Golf Resort in Gibbons, about 40 kms north of Edmonton.

These funds will help GGB continue its mandate of helping those who live in poverty. To find out more information about Generously Giving Back (GGB) and who we help, please visit www.generouslygivingback.com.
